As Curator I am dependent upon your generosity – both for artifacts to add to our historical collection and for monetary contributions to support preservation and enhancement of our collection. I am overjoyed with the receipt of each historical item – printed materials, photographs, pins, regalia – and I am immeasurably grateful for each monetary contribution – every penny counts. Here’s how you can help continue these projects.

Historical Collection

It is always exciting to receive artifacts for our historical collection. Sometimes these items are delivered to me at Supreme Session or they arrive by UPS to the International Center or to my home.

If you wish to donate jewelry or gavels, for example, it adds immeasurably to the collection if you also send me the owner’s name, Bethel Number, city, etc. If you send a Past Honored Queen’s jewel, please include the young lady’s name, Bethel Number and location, and when she served as Honored Queen. For photographs, please list in pencil on the back of the photograph, the names of the persons pictured, the event, and the date and location. This personal information makes the collection so much more interesting.

The addition of more old Rituals, Music Rituals, and Books of Ceremonies, as well as old Supply Catalogs, would be most welcome.

Some of the most interesting items are old scrapbooks from which I have gleaned original Supreme Session programs, newspaper articles, and other items that span the history of our Order. Scrapbooks are accepted with the understanding that I can remove unique items for display.

If you wish to donate an item to our collection, please contact me in advance. In this way I can let the Executive Manager know what I would like her staff to do with the item when it arrives at Papillion. Some items are fragile and require special storage conditions.

Monetary Contributions

For several years, in honor of the birthday of our founder, Mrs. Ethel T. Wead Mick, I have asked Bethels to continue the tradition of having a Coin March at their meeting nearest March 9th and to send the funds to the Supreme Office. These donations have been the major effort in preserving our historical collection and in enhancing our displays. I am very grateful for this support.

The Mother Mick “Buds of Promise” pin is available when visiting the International Center for Job’s Daughters or attending Supreme Session. It can be obtained through the mail from the Supreme Office or the Curator. This pin is an exclusive fundraiser for the Mick Memorial Room and continues to be a very successful source of funds. The pin costs $5.00.

The Elva W. Shadley Restricted Fund was established by PASG Kennely J Bastin in 2002 to support the purchase of preservation materials. This is an interest-bearing account. Donations in memory of Mrs. Shadley or in honor of other workers should be sent to the Supreme Office and designated as a contribution to the Elva W. Shadley Restricted Fund.

The Ethel T. Wead Mick Fund supports the work of the Curator. Checks or money orders made out to Job’s Daughters International should be sent to the Supreme Office with a notation that the donation is for the Curator.

All of your monetary donations support the work of the Curator and as a volunteer I am not reimbursed for my personal expenses in carrying out my curatorial responsibilities.
